SE Leadership Conference 2013 Nashville TN

Tennessee Art Education Association hosted NAEA's SE Leadership Conference July 11-13. Missi Carini and I attended the conference representing KyAEA. We stayed in the beautiful Hutton Hotel and had our meetings at the Frist Art Museum. Some of the fun activities of our Cultural day included a tour of the Nashville Parthenon and a visit with artist Alan LeQuire, creator of the Athena Statue. We also visited the Nashville Public Library where we viewed their Puppet collection and then heard from Puppet Master, . We were so impressed with his process of creating the puppets and puppet shows that we asked to come see the show the next day. I think it was a highlight for everyone! We ate lunch at Monell's Family style restaurant and then on to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. We had a private tour of the Hatch Show Print Shop then Dinner at the Sunset Grill. We topped it all off with a visit to the Cheekwood Museum and Gardens to see Bruce Monroe's Light exhibit....stunning! Friday we began our work on platform statements, wording, and new info presented by Deb Philypiw and Dennis Inhulsen. Saturday we continued our work and gave State Reports. I was able to report on some great things happening within KyAEA. We finished our weekend with a Night at the Grand Ole Opry.
