KyAEA State Conference 2011 "Leadership in the Arts"

After returning from the Kentucky Art Education Conference in Morehead Oct. 14,15 I was filled with the desire to express myself about leadership in the Arts and encourage others to attend future conferences in order to learn from each other and carry these experiences back to the many students in Kentucky classrooms. Not only did I have learning experiences from attending sessions and keynote speakers, I also experienced the deep level of friendship and like mindedness you feel when being with those who do the same thing you do each day. Each day in Kentucky schools art teachers seek to instill the love of art in their students through processes and media taught in many various ways that include cultures, assessments, technology and adaptations for students who have special needs. Yes, I believe as Art Teachers we have a very special place in our schools where we touch the lives of so many children and offer them opportunities to create and explore art and to be successful. I plan to share some of the sessions from the conference as well as highlights of the keynote sessions. Also, I thought it would be great to highlight some of the art teachers I know and what is going on in their classrooms.
