Miles Johnson, President Elect and I traveled to New Orleans for the Southeastern Region Summer Leadership Conference. We had so many wonderful experiences! It is an inspiration to be with the leaders of each of the Southeastern states! Denise Tullier-Holly, Margaret Holt and other Louisiana Art stars organized some unique cultural experiences for our group. We toured Historical Homes, visited the New Orleans Museum of Art, and spent one of our working days at the George Rodrique Foundation for the Arts! Debi West and Scott Russell did a wonderful job of leading us in our work of planning and dreaming of future work for NAEA on behalf of Art Teachers. Also, Dr. Deborah Reeve, Executive director NAEA gave us words to ponder from a poem entitled: "Fire" by Judy Brown from her book, "Teaching with Fire". Deborah complimented us all on our Passion for Art, Leadership, Curiosity, and Energy. We all grew closer to her spending this time with her exploring New Orleans and dreaming of the future of Art Education together!
