Arts Advocacy Day Feb. 2, 2012

I attended my very first Arts Advocacy Day in Frankfort on Feb. 2, 2012. Since I had never been before I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I believe in the past KyAEA has had at least 2 or 3 representatives present but this year it was just me so I decided to ride along with Andee Rudloff who is the Education Director of our new Arts center SKyPAC, due to open in March. Andee is also on the Board of Directors for the Kentucky Arts Council. We spent time at the Capitol, met with the other arts minded individuals, and attended the KAC Arts Day Reception. I enjoyed spending time with Andee driving there and back....LOTS of good art conversation.

Glass Kiln + Printmaking + art teachers = Great Fun!

Saturday January 28th was a mini-conference hosted by Missi Carini in her BRAND NEW STUDIO! The workshop began with Missi showing us around and then schooling us in the qualities of glass.....we learned all about melting temps and Glass techniques as well as glass cutting. Missi also showed us how to melt the rods with a small candle flame to create a curvy line in our glass piece. We all created 2-3 pieces before our delicious lunch (prepared by Missi's husband, Michael) Soup was served. After lunch we tried out some printmaking techniques using the printing press. It was definitly an art filled day!
