SKyPAC Community Day March 18, 2012

Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center held a community Arts day for the public on Sunday March 18. The Warren County Art Teachers and Gifted students showcased their talents and created art with guests! Some of the students from Drakes Creek Middle School became Golden Statues and amazed the public. Missi Carini taught the art of printmaking to scores of visitors. There were a reported 5000+ people who toured the new facility. Jennifer Wansack and Catherine Lehman taught the art of Zentangling. A wonderful display of Gifted and Talented Artwork was on display for all to enjoy. What a wonderful way to welcome a new arts center into our community!

NAEA Conference 2012 Artists and Speakers

The Artists and Speakers for the conference were phenomenal! We heard from Peter Max and Chuck Close. Both artists are world renown and this was a once in a lifetime event! They both spoke candidly and frankly about their art and creative process. Loved it!

Times Square! NYC

Times Square was a very busy, bright place where we were able to find delicious food and lots of cool souvenirs like statue of Liberty Ducks! This is me and Jennifer Sims with our Ducks.

NAEA 2012 New York

The National Art Education Conference was held in New York City this year. Each year the Delegates meet to decide on issues that represent our organization. Most states have 2 delegates that vote on the issues. Kentucky is represented by the President and President Elect so Kimberly Newton and I were a part of this decision making process on Wednesday all day and then on Thursday to finish up and vote on all issues. Each state is also represented by a Student Designed flag for Youth Art Month and a display of student art.
